As I mentioned in a post previous, I had the privilege to attend Boerne Christian Assembly while I was in Texas. It was a rather enjoyable time as I had the chance to speak with Isaac Botkin after the service, and during the fellowship meal. He had many interesting things to share, and I quite enjoyed my conversation with him. Unfortunately I’m not necessarily much of a conversationalist, and as some of you may know, sometimes the only thing I can talk about is Macs and how much better they are than Windoze PCs. I’m afraid I may have overdone it with Isaac and conveyed the wrong idea to him… but after all, he uses PCs when he should be using Macs, and I told him that the Lord could save him from such delusion wink. In all seriousness it was a very pleasant time.

My boss, director and owner of Franklin Springs Family Media, was also able to spend some time with Doug Phillips, and Doug even posted about us on his blog HERE. I look forward to being able to spend more time with the brethren from Boerne Christian Assembly.

And have been for a week. I’m sorry I haven’t posted sooner. We are still processing all of the footage we shot and digitizing the footage from the Varicam’s tapes. It’s been a really busy week.

In the evenings I have been editing the City on a Hill conference so I usually don’t get to bed until about 11:00 pm or so. I’ll try to find time to post something of worth before too much longer.

I am leaving Kerrville Texas this morning and headed to Ft. Worth. I will be taking a detour this morning however to go to Boerne Christian Assembly for Church.

In Ft. Worth we will be filming a live concert at Bass Hall which should be a lot of fun. We will be using 4 Varicams and one Panasonic HVX200. The 200 does not shoot on tape, instead it uses cards called P2 cards, which fits in a PC-MCIA slot of a Powerbook or most PC laptops. It will be my responsibility to co-ordinate the offloading of media from the cards.

I’ve gotta tell you this is exciting stuff, except of course that Windoze™ is involved at all, but Windows is with us to stay for a while and Apple is all about making life easier. So they have provided the means to run Windows XP natively on their Intel based systems. This is to smooth the transition from PC to Macintosh. It will assuage user’s fears of the Mac because now they can fall back on Windows and still have the beauty, elegance, and superior hardware of the Mac. So if you want to test drive OS X on your next computer and still have Windows there to make you feel better, Apple has made it possible for you. And those of us who use Macs already know what happens when you try OS X for more than 5 minutes… You are hooked!! OS X is simply the best, most stable, and easiest to use platform on the market. This is of course not to say that OS X doesn’t have it’s flaws, but it’s still the best choice by far!

Very exciting stuff!

I am writing this from Texas, where I’ll be for almost two weeks on two productions of the company I work for. I will return to my beloved wife next Thursday.

Rachel is actually away right now in Peoria for her sister’s recital which was this past Saturday and will be returning to Tennessee Wednesday. Of course she will be returning to an empty house. I already miss her a lot!
