TJ is traveling out of state this week for work. Both Allen and I are missing him.
Allen is really getting interactive with his toys. His bouncy seat is not such a bad thing anymore.
His busy days still require two naps a day. I try to join him on his afternoon nap.

I mentioned in a previous post that Allen had found his thumb. Technically that is not quite true. I found him with his thumb in his mouth when he was only a couple days old. This led me to suspect that he had been sucking it in-utero and we would have problems with it later. However, as he didn’t have enough motor control to find it consistently thereafter, merely putting his whole fist in his mouth, I put it out of my mind. But last week he started sucking his thumb quite regularly.
We would very much like to get him to stop before he forms a habit as we don’t want it to cause orthodontic problems later on. This evening we tried a mitten on his hand. You can see how well that worked.
If anyone has any suggestions we would be glad to hear them.

Firefox 2.0 was released yesterday and may be downloaded here.
I have installed this version on my Mac Laptop, my G5 edit station at work, and my stupid Windows PC at home and on all 3 computers, it seems faster, snappier and in general is an even better browsing experience than it already was. There are some nice new features too, like putting tab closing buttons on the individual tabs like Apple’s Safari has had for years, and better built in RSS and feed reading support. Since I use Google reader for my RSS and feed reading, Firefox’s new integration with Google reader is nice. You can set it up in preferences to use Google reader to subscribe to a feed when you click the little RSS icon. AWESOME!
Let’s see, what else… O yes, the big one, and one of the reasons I loved Apple’s Safari, Firefox now has inline spell checking. Which makes it nicer to post on this blog for instance, because it will underline misspelled words in red just like a word processor.
Firefox 2.0 also feels much more refined. So far, I highly recommend the upgrade.

Allen had his two month check-up yesterday. The Dr. was very pleased with his growth. He now weighs 12 lbs. 3 1/2 oz. and is 22 3/4 in. long. He is in about the 50th percentile for his age. That is up from his 2 week check-up when he was in around the 25th percentile. He had to have his 2 month shots and it ruined his day. Three shots and a sticky oral vaccine to take is enough to ruin anybody’s day. He slept for several hours after the Dr.’s visit, but after he woke up and ate, nothing could calm him down. Unfortunately, it was my day for running errands and we were in Dickson. So I cut them short and took him home. He got his first taste of baby Tylenol. Thankfully, that seemed to help and he was able to go to sleep. After that nap, he felt a little better and gave us a hesitating smile. But that is about all we got out of him that day. Thankfully, he is feeling much better this morning and is back to his old self.
He has found his thumb, much to his father’s dismay. I have noticed though that he mostly only sucks it when he wants me, but is left to himself. If I pick him up then he usually stops.
He is paying much more attention to what is going on. This morning I dug a toy out of the pile of stuff in the crib for him. It really got his attention and he enjoyed looking at it and listening to the music. Look at him lift his head up!!!

I would like to introduce you all to
MovingTruth.com, co-founded by myself, and my brother-in-law,
David. MovingTruth is an online community of film makers, graphic designers, and photographers seeking to bring honor and glory to the Lord in all that they do. Following is a quote from the MovingTruth.com purpose statement:
The concept behind Moving Truth is not that truth moves and that we must keep up with its ever changing progress. No, God is truth and God is the same yesterday today and forever. The concept of moving truth is our work must proclaim God’s truth. The bible says in Ephs 6:12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Photography along with cinematography are both powerful ways of spotlighting aspects of God’s truth and blessings on our lives. He has indeed not left us desolate in this fallen world He has equiped us with spiritual armor. He has enabled and commanded us, His people to communicate truth, both through our lives as well as our work. We are to worship God with all that we do.
